INGREDIENTS
– 1 & 1/2 cups (180g) all-purpose flour– 1/2 teaspoon baking soda– 1/2 teaspoon salt– 3/4 cup (170g) unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled– 1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar– 1/3 cup (67g) firmly packed light brown sugar– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract– 1/2 cup (85g) semisweet chocolate chip– 1/2 cup (85g) milk chocolate chip– 1/2 cup (85g) white chocolate chip– 1 cup chopped nuts (pecans, walnuts, hazelnuts, etc.)
Preheat oven to 350°F. Line a half-sheet pan with silicone or parchment. Mix flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
Step 1
INSTRUCTIONS
Mix the cooled butter, sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla in a large bowl. Add the flour mixture to the butter mixture in small amounts, mixing just until incorporated or a few flour streaks remain.
Step 2
Mix in chocolate chips and nuts. Put the dough in the pan. Make a 9" x 13" rectangle about 1/2 inch thick with a 1-1/2-inch border.
Step 3
Cook 16–20 minutes until the top is firm and rich golden brown. Take 10 minutes to cool on a wire rack in the pan.
Step 4
Transfer to wire rack. No problem if it breaks. Once cooled, split cookie brittle into 4- or 5-inch pieces.
