– 2 & 1/2 cups (300g) all-purpose flour – 1 teaspoon baking soda – 1/2 teaspoon salt – 1 cup (226g) unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled – 1 & 1/4 cups (250g) granulated sugar – 1/4 cup (50g) firmly packed brown sugar – 1 large egg – 1 tablespoon milk – 2 teaspoons vanilla extract – 8 ounces (226g) dark chocolate, chopped (semisweet or bittersweet) – Flaky sea salt, optional

Heat the oven to 325°F. Cover baking sheets with parchment or silicone. Mix flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

Step 1

Mix melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar in a large bowl. Whisk in the egg, milk, and vanilla.

Step 2

Slowly add dry ingredients to wet ingredients and stir until combined. Mix in chocolate.

Step 3

Place tablespoon-sized dough balls on the baking sheet, leaving 3 inches between each. Flatten them by pressing lightly. Sprinkle a pinch of sea salt on each cookie.

Step 4

Bake one pan at a time for 15-20 minutes until the edges are golden brown but the center is soft. Wait 5 minutes before transferring the cookies to wire racks to finish cooling.
